1st Marple Scouts are sad to report the passing of cub leader Alan Walker, who lost his brave battle against cancer last week.
His funeral will be taking place on Monday 25th June at 1:30 at Christ Church Heald Green, and there is sure to be a huge turnout of people connected to Marple Scouts who have sung, laughed and cried with him over the many years he has been in Marple.
Alan was an inspiration to hundreds of kids (myself included), having been an active leader at Arkwright Cubs for well over 20 years, with his good-humoured and down-to-earth nature helping him to make thousands of friends along the way.
Alan will also be remembered for the hard work he put in as one of the directors of Marple Gang Show. He came up with all sorts of brilliant and original ideas which were incorporated into the show, including writing a number of the sketches himself, and helped to produce an entertaining night worthy of the famous Red Necker.
Tributes have been / can be left on the ‘You will be missed‘ facebook page.
He was one of the kindest, friendliest and funniest people I’ve ever met, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
RIP Alan Walker.
