Happy Patrols
It’s our last full day on site, and the patrols are excited about heading to the Silver mines…
There are two Scout troops in Marple, with Kinder (twitter) meeting at the Scout Hut on Tuesdays, and Cobden (twitter) on Thursdays, from 19.30 – 21.00.
There is currently a waiting list for both – sign up via the join form to be added to it.
Whilst both troops meet up separately, there are many activities that they do together – with the annual Easter Camp and Summer Camps a particular highlight, as well as Gang Show, joint walking days (and nights) and other ad hoc activities.
They also face off against each other in the Ian Corbishley Battle of Marple (twitter), when they compete at various challenges across a whole weekend before having a final assault course to decide which troop has bragging rights for the next year!

It’s a bright and sunny Woodmas Day, and the kids were all delighted to receive their gifts of neatly chopped wood from Father Woodmas! 🙂 After being treated to traditional Woodmas pancakes, we made sure all the sugar, syrup & chocolate spread wasn’t going to destroy their teeth by brushing them en masse at flag
After some Award Winning fish and chips in Aberystwyth we headed home to the campsite to play a Babe-themed wide game, with the PLs trying to round up all the sheep of a rival patrol. Obviously they need dog masks on in order to do a good job…

Pre-oven pizza’s: they were so scrummy that they’d all gone before we had chance to take a post-oven shot!
Sticking with the farm theme, we’re watching Babe in the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Courtyard. Come on Babe!
It was another early start for us all, as we headed off to help milk the cows at Eifion’s farm, which we can see from the campsite! We now know how much a milk container costs, how many bottles a normal cow can produce, and whether you can ride a cow!
